Employment of Gwadar fishermen be protected & get rid of troller mafias: Liaqat Baloch

QUETTA, Dec 07 (SABAH): Liaqat Baloch, Deputy Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, President of the Standing Committee on Political, National Affairs, while talking to political and social leaders in Quetta, said that peaceful, passionate sit-in has been going on in Gwadar for 20 days under the leadership of Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman. The people are protesting for the restoration of their rights. Let the government and state institutions abandon ad hocism and the traditional way, listen to the grievances, protests and demands of the poor people, youth and fishermen of Gwadar and resolve them immediately. This is a great opportunity to resolve problems of the people on political and democratic grounds.

Liaqat Baloch along with a delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan met on the issues of Gwadar sit-in at the invitation of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Qaddus Bizenjo. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Chief Secretary, IG Police Balochistan, Additional Chief Secretary and Home Secretary. The delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami spoke on the 15 points of the Charter of Public Demands by the Gwadar sit-in demanding that the employment of fishermen be protected and get rid of troller mafias; stop humiliating commuters/travelers in the name of security; employment opportunities be provided to youth and job security be ensured to the working class; education, health, water, electricity facilities be provided to the people of Balochistan, especially Gwadar; the main area of CPEC project – Gwadar must not be deprived of the development and other facilities in the area; missing persons should be recovered; cases against Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman and youth should be dropped; priority should be given to locals for employment; utility bills should be waived on the basis of backwardness and disaster in Gwadar and confiscated vehicles, rickshaws, boats/speed boats should be returned to the owners.

Liaqat Baloch said that the people of Gwadar have shown courage for their rights, the people of Gwadar are not alone, the whole country is with the people of Balochistan and Gwadar. If the government takes any action against the people with the help of state power and force, this movement will spread all over the country. Prime Minister Imran Khan must listen to the voice of the sit-in protesters, his closed ears to the public issues are utter tyranny and dictatorship. Ameer of Jama’at-e Islami Balochistan Abdul Haq Hashmi, Akhtar Baloch, Sardar Alam Sanjarani and Maulana Kabir Shakir were included in the delegation.
