Election Commission forwards request to Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman for consultation regarding date of general polls in Punjab

ISLAMABAD, Feb 13 (SABAH): Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has forwarded a request to Governor Punjab Engineer Mian Muhammad Balighur Rehman for consultation regarding the date of general elections in the province. The ECP has sought time from governor Punjab today (Tuesday).

During Monday’s meeting of the Election Commission that was held under the chair of Chief Election Commissioner Dr. Sikandar Sultan Raja in Islamabad, it was informed that a letter in this regard has been dispatched.

Keeping in view the Lahore High Court’s decision of 10th February, the meeting discussed the procedure of its implementation.

The Election Commission authorized the Special Secretary and Director General Law under the supervision of Secretary Election Commission to hold consultation with the Governor and brief the commission regarding next plan of action.
