ECP to conduct hearing of disqualification reference, contempt of court petition against Imran Khan tomorrow


ISLAMABAD, Sept 06 (SABAH): Hearing of contempt of court petitions will be conducted tomorrow (Wednesday), filed against ex-premier and Chairman PTI Imran Khan, PTI Secretary General and former minister for planning, development and special initiatives, Asad Umar, PTI leader and former information minister Fawad Ahmed Chaudhry for use of intemperate, un-parliamentary language and contemptuous remarks against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

Hearing of petitions will be conducted against Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry for use of intemperate, un-parliamentary language and contemptuous remarks against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and chief Election Commissioner (CEC) while hearing will be conducted against Asad Umar for use of intemperate, un-parliamentary language and contemptuous remarks against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Four-member bench headed by Member ECP Nisar Ahmed Durrani and comprising members of ECP Shah Muhammad Jatoi, Babar Hassan Bharwana and Justice (retd) Ikramullah Khan will conduct hearing of contempt of court applications against Imran Khan, Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhry. The ECP while issuing notices to three PTI leaders, had already ordered them to submit reply.

Meanwhile hearing will be conducted today (Wednesday) in the ECP against ex-PM Imran Khan under Article-63 of the Constitution on a reference filed for his disqualification.  A five-member bench headed by CEC Dr. Sikander Sultan Raja will conduct hearing of this reference.

It is noteworthy here that PML-N MNA Ali Gohar Khan Baloch along with five other members had filed the reference for disqualification of MNA Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi. ECP while issuing notice on the first reference, had already summoned reply from Imran Khan.
