ECP contempt case: Hearing against Imran Khan, Fawad Chaudhry, Asad Umar deferred till Feb 14
ISLAMABAD, Feb 01 (SABAH): Associate counsel in a case related to contempt of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against former prime minister and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan, his aides Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhry, has stated that they would submit answer of show-cause notice up till the next hearing. To this the hearing was adjourned till February 14.
The hearing of contempt of ECP was conducted by a four-member commission with Member Sindh Nisar Ahmed Durrani in the chair wherein PTI’s General Secretary Asad Umar and his counsel Anwar Mansoor Khan appeared.
During the hearing, Member Sindh Nisar Durrani asked the lawyer to submit the answer of show-cause notice. To this counsel for Asad Umar stated that he was busy and sought four day time for submission of reply to the show-cause notice.
The associate lawyer said that Asad Umar, Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry were on the way and furthered he will answer to questions to the objections on the next hearing. Member Balochistan Shah Muhammad Jatoi remarked that they would be charge-sheeted during the next hearing.
To this counsel for Asad argued before the Commission that the Supreme Court has already issued instructions on announcing decision on objections at first and furthered, “I am going abroad and will give my arguments on my return. Member Sindh Nisar Durrani stated that next hearing will be conducted on February 14. To this the associate lawyer Anwar Mansoor Khan replied that they would submit answer to show-cause up till the next hearing whereas he will present his arguments after February 20.
On the other side, Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry raised objection on members hearing the contempt of ECP case, arguing they cannot hearing this case as contempt is basically related to themselves.
