ECP committing deplorable act by depriving Karachiites of true leadership through delaying tactics: Sirajul Haq

PESHAWAR/LAHORE, Feb 07 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Sirajul Haq has said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) wanted to deprive Karachiites of their true leadership by using delaying tactics and accepting influence from government of Sindh that was deplorable.

While expressing his views during a meeting held in connection with taking stock of preparations of Peshawar’s ‘Aman March,’ being held today (Wednesday), Sirajul Haq said it has been long ago when elections were held but till now election results could not be finalized, suggesting Pakistan People’s Party (PTI) to abandon dreaming on giving its mayor for Karachi. A number of issues pertaining to ‘Aman March’ came under discussion during the meeting. District Emir Peshawar Bahrullah Khan was also present on the occasion. He said that Karachiites gave mandate to Jamaat-e-Islami and it knows well as to how to safeguard its mandate.

He stressed upon the ECP to announce result of Karachi elections forthwith instead of delaying it besides announcing date of elections in the 11 union councils where polls could not be held due to some issues. “What type of electoral system this is where rigging takes place at every stage?” he questioned.

Sirajul Haq deplored that the ECP cannot deliver justice on the results of elections which is raising questions before its credibility, he noted and added that Jamaat-e-Islami took majority of seats of the city hence no-one will be allowed to snatch its mandate.

He said that criticism against institutions and the government was afoot everywhere and noted if the situation did not improve it will further aggravate circumstances for the government. He said that political gatherings and rallies were only a beginning and added that people may thrust into the palaces of the rulers.

“Masses have been left helpless for the goodwill of International Monetary Fund (IMF). Deteriorated law and order situation has multiplied miseries of the masses. The government did not fulfill promises done on the occasion of merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to which the tribal men were anxious, leaving also the area without any guardian. This is also exacerbating the crime rate in KPK,” he said.

Sirajul Haq said that Jamaat-e-Islami was standing with the masses of Peshawar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and it will not leave them along. While giving his message to the police of the province, he said the way they have been struggling audaciously for bringing peace they enjoy high esteem in the eyes of people of the country.

During the 10 year tenure of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the province, no visible steps were taken for the development and prosperity of the province, he said. In spite of paucity of arms and perks and privileges, KPK police has been giving befitting answer to terrorism in the country, he noted.

Sirajul Haq furthered the ‘Aman March’ being held today (Wednesday) at Peshawar will be a ray of hope for the whole country including KPK and appealed to the people from all walks of life to participate in it. He added if Allah Almighty confers Jamaat-e-Islami power it will bring peace, prosperity and brotherhood in the country. He appealed to the masses to donate Jamaat-e-Islami and Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan for the victims of earthquake of Turkiye and Syria.
