Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Khan takes oath as sixth Emir Jamaat-e-Islami AJ&K & GB


ISLAMABAD, July 23 (SABAH): Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Khan has taken oath as sixth Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

Oath-taking ceremony was held at Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan’s central office in Islamabad here on Sunday. In the ceremony, large number of Jamaat-e-Islami’s leaders and workers from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan participated.

Former prime ministers of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Atique Ahmed Khan, Haji Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, Pakistan-Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Shah Ghulam Qadir, former Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir Dr. Khalid Mahmood Khan, Convener of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, Tehreek-e-Kashmir United Kingdom Raja Fahim Kayani, Maulana Abdul Sami and others also addressed the ceremony.

Meanwhile the ceremony was also attended by former Emir JI AJK Abdul Rashid Turabi, former Emir JI AJK Sardar Ijaz Afzal Khan, Convener Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Kashmiri leader Ghulam Nabi Nowshri, Altaf Ahmed Butt, former DIG Fahim Abbasi, Business Forum Pakistan President Muhammad Kashif Chaudhry, Imran Aziz and others.

Addressing the oath-taking ceremony, Naib Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and former parliamentary leader in National Assembly, Liaqat Baloch said that India inflicted countless barbaric acts against Kashmiris in Occupied Kashmir and added that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi immensely damaged the Freedom Movement by committing August 5 acts. He said Kashmiris wanted the right of self-determination which is why India could not suppress them through the use of force and urged upon the Islamic world to play its role with respect to resolution of this issue.

“Today Pakistan is facing instability. Political instability has caused economic instability. There is a need of making the country economically and politically stable. Conspiracies are being hatched against the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Pakistan needed to strengthen ties with Afghanistan. Free, fair and transparent elections will bring political stability in the country,” he remarked. Liaqat Baloch said that impartial and transparent elections will bring political stability in Pakistan. He said that the parties of base camp are united, which is a welcoming thing, adding that Pakistan’s political leadership should have to come on the one platform for the Kashmir cause.

He said that Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Khan has to face a number of challenges and added there was a need to further activate the team alongside organizational matters.

Addressing on the occasion, Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Khan said that Allah Almighty conferred upon a great blessing in the form of
Syed Abul A’la al-Maududi who inculcated awareness in the masses about the concept of life and continued his literature resulted in a revolution across the entire world.

He remarked, “We have to be united for the sake of glory of Allah Almighty’s religion. We have to root out the system of oppression and barbarism which has been imposed over here.”

He further said that thousands of people from Azad Jammu and Kashmir as well as Pakistan scarified their lives for the Kashmir cause. “We have to take initiatives while relying on Allah Almighty and move on with determination and resolution,” he added.

At present, anti-Islami propaganda is on the rise. We would not accept powers of evil [Taghut] at any cost. Powers of evil are going to be dismembered. Islam’s fair system would be enforced. We have to take forward the struggle of Syed Ali Shah Geelani in Occupied Kashmir. Our youth scarified their lives for the sake of Kashmir cause. Their sacrifices would not be forgotten.

Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Khan said that we assure Hurriyat Conference and people of occupied Kashmir that you are not alone; the people of Azad Kashmir are standing behind you. He also presented tribute to the services of late Emir JI Pakistan Qazi Hussain Ahmed for the freedom movement of Kashmir. Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Khan said that division of Kashmir in no way is acceptable and unity of Kashmir will be kept intact.

Former president and prime minister AJ&K Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan addressing on the occasion said that he was grateful to Jamaat-e-Islami as it has a single emir for Azad Jammu and Kashmir as well as Gilgit-Baltistan. He said that all the people of base camp were supporting the freedom movement and added, “God-willing we would achieve freedom. All the political parties are on the same page on this matter.”

While paying homage to Burhan Muazzam Wani and the martyrs of freedom movement, former emir Jamaat-e-Islami AJ & K Dr Khalid Mahmood Khan said, “Thanks Allah Almighty who attached us with this great movement in the period of materialism. Kashmiris have been facing Indian barbaric acts since last 75 years.”

Convener All Parties Hurriyet Conference Mehmood Ahmed Saghar congratulated the newly elected emir Jamaat-e-Islami AJ&K. He added that Kashmiris were continuing their struggle, saying we oppose the division of Kashmir. He said no decision would be accepted without taking input by the Kashmiris.

Addressing on the occasion, Maulana Abdul Sami prayed for the steadfastness of newly-elected emir Jamaat-e-Islami AJ&K as well as G-B.
