Disallowance of justice poses serious challenges to Pakistan: Bilal Azhar Kiyani

JHELUM, June 04 (SABAH): Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Economy and Energy Bilal Azhar Kayani has said that Pakistan is in the grip of an acute crisis when it comes to dispensation of justice. He said that the people will have to join hands with legal fraternity and political leadership of the country for restoration of judiciary’s lost glory and for its efficient functioning. He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took tough but right decisions during the last year and now they have started bearing fruits. People will be reaping the benefits of those decisions.

This was stated by Bilawal Azhar Kayani while talking to a delegation led by District Bar Association Jhelum President Sheikh Ikram Advocate who met him at his office. The delegation that included former president Jhelum Bar Association Raja Toqeer Ahmad, General Secretary of District Bar Arbab Shahid Kayani, Jiant Secretary Raja Khurram Nisar and other lawyers. Former MPA Chaudhry Saeed Iqbal and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Jhelum leader and senior lawyer Mubarak Kayani were also present on the occasion

Bilal Azhar Kayani said government’s decision to allocate Rs 1100 billion for development in the budget for next fiscal year will be a catalyst for economic recovery of Pakistan. We will deal with the economic challenges and rout the forces behind political turmoil that has been fueled by violence and vandalism.

Kiyani said that bar and bench make the judicial system and they have to play their part. Referring to an apex court bench, he said it has exposed double standards of the judiciary and damage its reputation like never before and the Chief Justice must put his house in order.

Lawyers have played a historic role for upholding the constitution, rule of law and democracy in the country. He said that lawyers, political workers and media have always raised their voice for the constitution, law, democracy and civil liberties in the country. It is high time that we all join hands for revival of judiciary’s lost glory, he said.

Kayani said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif takes personal interest in the problems faced by bar associations across the country including the Jhelum Bar and for the welfare and wellbeing of lawyers. The delegation presented their problems and demands, on which Bilal Azhar Kayani assured the delegation to play his role in solving the problems and said he will also contact Law Minister Senator Azam Nazir to solve these problems.

On this occasion, the delegation appreciated Bilal Azhar Kayani’s public services in NA-60 and Jhelum. The delegation also congratulated Kayani on the construction of Shantatajada Road and Link Road on Saturday. Kiyani told the lawyers and people at large gathered at his office that resolving issues of the people and their in NA-60 and Jehlum, was his top priority. He said a network of highways is being built and in this regard two main roads of Jhelum city, five kilometers long each, were inaugurated the other day. The construction and rehabilitation of these highways will bring ease in the daily life of the people. Furthermore, significant progress is being made to fulfill the longstanding demand for the Lilla Jhelum Road. He assured that efforts are underway to address other challenges, including electricity, education, and healthcare in Jhelum, and assured that people will see concrete steps in near future.
