Did Imran Khan not return confiscated £190 million to his ATM? Miftah Ismail

ISLAMABAD, August 12 (SABAH): Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Dr. Miftah Ismail Ahmed has asked a few questions for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) friends.

1) Did Imran Khan not return confiscated £190 million to his ATM? Did he not hide this from cabinet & the nation? Did he not get 100s of acres of land in exchange in a trust controlled by himself, his wife & Farah Gujjar? Isn’t this corruption?

4) Did Usman Buzdar not sell licenses for cement plants in Punjab? Did Buzdar not engage in massive and persistent corruption in Punjab? Did Imran Khan not know about it? Did he not enable it?

Peshawar BRT was built at a cost 4 times the cost of the Lahore metro (which is of the same length). Why did Imran Khan go to court to stop corruption investigation? Why didn’t he want to discover the corruption there?

Meanwhile in a separate tweet, Miftah Ismail said that the fixed tax from small traders will be removed. I made a couple of mistakes in the tax structure and hence have to change it. We will now be collected taxes on an ad valorem basis and collect Rs 27 billion compared to only Rs 6 billion last year. So a 350% increase.

Miftah Ismail said that the Real Estate (and gold) are stores of value for Pakistanis and mostly under-taxed and not-so-productive. This has to do with how official price is real estate is determined and how federal government has little ability to tax property. We are trying to improve things.

Miftah Ismail said that all Army-owned businesses are taxes. For instance, Askari bank pays tax at the same rate as NBP or HBL. Similarly Fauji Fertiliser pays tax at the same rate as Engro or Fatima Fertiliser.
