Dialysis of patients should not be stopped on the excuse of lack of funds: Maryam Nawaz
LAHORE, Nov 19 (SABAH): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken strict notice of the incident of AIDS spread among dialysis patients in Nishtar Hospital Multan and has sought a report from the relevant authorities within 24 hours.
Chief Minister Punjab said that the spread of AIDS among dialysis patients is both sad and shameful. Dialysis of patients should not be stopped on the excuse of lack of funds.
Maryam Nawaz expressed these views while presiding over a special meeting. In the meeting, the progress of the health program and other projects was reviewed and measures were taken into consideration to determine the performance of the health department.
In the meeting, a report was presented about the progress made so far on Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital. In addition, the Chief Minister also reviewed the report about the project being completed by Punjab Institute of Cardiology and Nawaz Sharif Institute of Sargodha and directed that PIC-2 should be built as a state-of-the-art hospital.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that the latest technology, equipment and medicines for heart diseases should be obtained in this hospital and specialist doctors should be given the latest training.
