DFP urges Kashmiris to assemble in Srinagar to pay tribute to Syed Ali Shah Geelani on his 2nd martyrdom anniversary


SRINAGAR, August 28 (SABAH): Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has appealed to the people to march towards Hyderpora, Srinagar in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, on September 1 to pay tribute to the icon of Kashmir resistance movement, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, on his 2nd martyrdom anniversary.

In a statement issued on Monday the DFP Spokesman Advocate Arshad Iqbal while referring to Geelani’s matchless sacrifices and struggle said that the deceased leader was a strong proponent and fearless advocate of the Kashmiris’ right to self determination. Geelani, he said, was a symbol of resistance against India’s illegal occupation who lived and died for the cause he cherished throughout his lifetime.

He said that Geelani was a man of honesty and integrity. “His life long struggle for the Kashmir cause would be written in golden words in the history of Kashmir”, the spokesman said.

The DFP spokesman appealed people of Kashmir to assemble at the deceased leader’s graveyard at Hyderpora in Srinagar on his anniversary to pay homage to the great leader who rendered matchless sacrifices for the people of Kashmir.
