DFP strongly condemns intimidation, illegal attachment of Kashmiris’ properties by occupation authorities under draconian laws

SRINAGAR, April 04 (SABAH): Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party has strongly condemned harassment of Kashmiri people, arbitrary arrests and illegal attachment of their properties, calling the move as a colonial era tactic to suppress political dissent in the region.

In a statement in Srinagar, the DFP Spokesman Advocate Arshad Iqbal said the continued search operations, nocturnal raids and arbitrary arrests of political activists and religious scholars, dispossessing them of their rightful properties, ban on congregational prayers and closures of mosques and shrines totally belie the Indian government’s claims of socalled normalcy in the region.

These colonial era tactic used by the Indian government, he said, were meant instill a sense of fear among the Kashmiri people and force them into submission. “Seizure and confiscation of properties of political activists under the guise of socalled national security is a part of the Indian government’s broader campaign aimed at suppressing the legitimate political voices that have refused to accept Indian diktats”, he added.

He, however, maintained that terrorizing and silencing the peace and freedom-loving Kashmiris won’t really help Indian government to achieve it’s nefarious designs in the region. “Such wicked attempts cannot deter Kashmiris from pursuing their collective cause for which they offered immense sacrifices”, the spokesman said.

The spokesman also voiced his party’s concern over the deteriorating health condition of incarcerated chairman Shabir Ahmed Shah and other Kashmiri prisoners who continue to languishing in different jails outside Kashmir.

Seeking early release of all political prisoners, the DFP spokesman urged the world human rights bodies to take effective notice of the matter and help secure early release of all illegally imprisoned Kashmiris.
