DFP demands an impartial investigation into recent killings of Kashmiri youth to bring perpetrators to justice

SRINAGAR, Feb 08 (SABAH): Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, while denouncing the brutal killing of two Kashmiri youth at the hands of Indian occupation forces, has demanded an impartial investigation to bring perpetrators to justice.

DFP Spokesman Advocate Arshad Iqbal in a statement issued here today, voiced his serious concern over the rising incidents of state-terrorism in the Indian occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir saying that the disputed region has witnessed an upsurge in incidents of custodial deaths and fake encounters during the last couple of years.

Terming use and abuse of draconian laws by Indian forces as a major reason behind these killings, he said that the impunity enjoyed by the Indian forces under the black laws has led to endless violence and bloodbath of civilians in Kashmir.

Similarly, he said, use of inhumane torture techniques by the Indian forces during interrogation have also led to countless custodial deaths of innocent civilians particularly young boys.

The DFP spokesman also expressed his party’s grave concern over the fresh arrest spree in Kashmir saying that hundreds of people have been arrested by the Indian forces during cordon-and-search operations carried out in different areas of central and south Kashmir.

He said that illegal detentions and arbitrary arrests were being used by Indian occupation authorities as a tool to suppress political dissent and dissenters in the region.

Urging international community to take notice of the dire situation in the region, he said that it was high time that the world community should come forward and help resolve the lingering disputes that has been the main cause and consequence of unrest and human rights violations.

It worth mentioning here that a Kashmiri truck driver Waseem Ahmed Malla was shot dead after Indian troops opened fire on his vehicle at Sangrama chowk in Baramulla area on Wednesday night while another youth, Makhan Din, was arrested in the Billawar area on the pretext of being working with pro-freedom activists and was later tortured to death in custody a day before yesterday.
