Deputy Inspector General of Police Shariq Jamal Khan laid to rest in Lahore

LAHORE, July 22 (SABAH): The funeral prayer of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Shariq Jamal Khan, who was mysteriously found dead in his Lahore flat, was offered in Icchra on Saturday.

DIG Operations Ali Nasir Rizvi, Additional IG Operations Punjab Shahzad Sultan, DIG Logistics Punjab Athar Ismail, DIG Amin Bokhari and people from other callings attended the funeral prayers.

DIG Jamal passed away mysteriously on Friday night and his body was found in flat 104 of Nishtar police station area. He had a residence in Defence Phase IV.

Police sources said the Defence police took a man and a woman into custody and also seized the food and utensils from his house for investigation.

DIG Jamal was taken to hospital with blood flowing from his mouth and nose. He was pronounced dead.

The late Jamal had earlier served as DIG Traffic and DIG Railways. He completed training for promotion to Grade 21. He was on special duty (OSD) these days.

A case regarding the incident has been registered on the complaint of deceased DIG’s wife.
