Delegation of Kashmiri leaders meets Turkish Member of Parliament Dogan Bekin to advocate for Kashmir cause
ISTANBUL, August 09 (SABAH): A delegation of esteemed Kashmiri political and Hurriyat leaders from both sides of the State of Jammu and Kashmir convened a productive meeting with Turkish Member of Parliament, Dogan Bekin, who also holds the position of Istanbul Deputy in the Re-Prosperity Party.
It is notable that the delegation included eminent figures from both sides of Kashmir. The delegation from the state of Jammu and Kashmir comprised notable individuals such as head of delegation Speaker of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Chaudhry Lateef Akbar; Convenor of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar; Former Member of Legislative Assembly of AJK, Abdur Rashid Turabi; Senior Member of All Parties Huriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir Altaf Ahmed Bhat and Senior Vice Chairman of Kashmir Diaspora Coalition, Dr. Mubeen Shah.
The meeting was conducted in a cordial and welcoming atmosphere, marked by a commitment to advancing the Kashmiri cause on a governmental level. Dogan Bekin extended a warm and gracious welcome to the delegation, affirming his support for the Kashmir cause and pledging to lend his voice to the ongoing struggle for justice and human rights in the region. The delegation wholeheartedly appreciated Dogan Bekin’s dedication and efforts toward advocating for the rights and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
In a series of comprehensive discussions, the delegation articulated their key demands. Emphasizing the pressing need for international attention to the Kashmir issue and the grave violations of human rights taking place, the delegation urged for the involvement and activation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) contact group to address the Kashmir conflict. The call to engage OIC’s diplomatic influence in the matter is essential to pave the way for a peaceful and just resolution.
Additionally, the delegation voiced the importance of facilitating and supporting Kashmiri students from Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir who have come to Turkey for education. The education of these students represents not only an investment in their future but also a means to empower and strengthen the Kashmiri youth in their quest for justice and freedom.
The Turkish Members of Parliament were urged to play a pivotal role by urging the OIC to exercise its significant influence to address the Kashmir issue. The involvement of such esteemed representatives amplifies the global discourse on the plight of Kashmiris and the need for a swift resolution.
