Crucial hearing in IHC on Dr. Aafia Siddiqui case to be held on August 26
KARACHI/ISLAMABAD, August 22 (SABAH): An important hearing of the case filed in Islamabad High Court (IHC) for release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, filed by her sister Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui is scheduled on August 26.
The IHC bench of Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaque Khan will hear the constitutional petition 3139/2015. During the last hearing on July 25, the honourable court had issued its order sheet in which it said that the court expect a solid decision from the government and for which it is given a time of four weeks. It is sufficient time for all stakeholders to file their detailed reply and the government should come with its final decision. It further said that a simple statement of this issue is under consideration between different ministries would not be accepted.
Aafia Movement spokesman Muhammad Ayub has said that the lawyer of Aafia Siddiqui, Clive Smith, has repeatedly stated that the key to release of Aafia Siddiqui is in Islamabad. The hearing of August 26 is also important because various personalities belonging to human rights are working on this case globally. Dr. Aafia is a Pakistani citizen but work on her case is slowest in her own country.
