Crops valuing 481 billion rupees destroyed in wake of flood
ISLAMABAD, Sep 22 (SABAH): Due to the recent rains and floods in the country, crops and commodities have been severely damaged and so far crops and commodities valuing 481 billion rupees have been destroyed.
Cotton, rice, corn, pulses, potatoes, onions, tomatoes and other vegetables were damaged due to the flood, while sugarcane, wheat, chili, tobacco, apples, grapes, garlic, fruit, oil seeds, pomegranate, millet, millet, melons were damaged. The crop was also damaged.
According to reports, cotton worth 239 billion 41 crore 64 lakh rupees has been destroyed so far, while rice crop worth 70 billion 89 crore 44 lakh rupees, onion crop worth 31 billion 91 crore 46 lakh rupees, 23 billion 78 crore rupees have been destroyed. Date crop worth 70 lakh rupees, pomegranate crop worth 12 billion 56 crore 56 lakh rupees, tomato crop worth 13 billion 59 crore 60 lakh rupees were destroyed.
According to the report, sugarcane crop worth 20 billion 562.6 million rupees, pepper worth 15.45 billion 50 million rupees, vegetables worth 8 billion 85 million rupees were destroyed due to flood, while dal worth 1 billion 151 million rupees was destroyed. Groundnut was destroyed and dal mash worth Rs 755.1 lakh, similarly dal moth worth Rs 437 crore was damaged.
