Continuous insensitivity & incompetency of govts more dangerous than natural calamities: Sirajul Haq
QUETTA, July 31 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq has said that continuous insensitivity and incompetency of governments is more dangerous than natural calamities.
Sirajul Haq said this while talking to media persons after paying a visit to the flood affected areas in the suburbs of Quetta.
At a time the country is surrounded by many difficulties including incapability of the rulers, he said, adding that arrival of natural calamities is expression of displeasure of Almighty Allah due to our sins. Monsoon rainfalls not only caused loss of lives in Balochistan but numerous cities were affected by it, he said, adding rulers should seek forgiveness from Almighty Allah by putting an end to the riba system in the country as only God’s assistance can take the country out of crises. He said, “I congratulate the volunteers of Jamaat-e-Islami and Alkhidmat Foundation who at first helped out affectees of floods-hit areas. I appeal to the entire nation to assist these people, besides the government and welfare organizations also need to play their part. People should give alms to their brothers and sisters who are in dire need. Like always, the Jamaat-e-Islami is standing by the people of calamity-hit areas in the whole country”.
Sirajul Haq was also accompanied by provincial Emir Maulana Abdul Haq Hashmi, Alkhidmat Foundation’s provincial president Engineer Jameel Ahmed Kurd, Quetta’s president Abdul Majeed Sarbazi, emir district Quetta Hafiz Noor Ali, provincial naib emir Dr. Attaur Rehman, media incharge Abdul Wali Khan.
On this occasion, the floods affectees while informing Sirajul Haq of their losses, apathy on the part of government and elected representatives, thanked the cooperation of Jamaat-e-Islami besides they appealed to the government for the necessary monetary assistance.
He said as per reports of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), over 312 persons lost their lives due to floods in the country including 121 children, 136 women, 56 men besides the others who got injured which is a matter of grief as it happened due to negligence and lack of cooperation of the government.
He deplored that helicopters are available for paying different visits [by the government functionaries] but no helicopter is spare to protect precious lives of the peoples. Recent rainfalls have derailed all the system of the province as these keep continue since last three weeks. Ten districts were affected whereas 14000 houses were washed away, 700 km long roads were destroyed besides others losses including those of crops, animals, orchards, and live stock. On the other side the rulers belonging to government and opposition are busy in protecting their own chair whereas the masses are helpless, he said, adding the Prime Minister only took aerial view of the area from 3000 feet height
The governments and institutions have failed while the people busy on the formula of self-help he said, and added neither chief minister, nor governor or ministers visited the aforementioned areas.
Till-date the government has not declared Balochistan a calamity-hit area and made announcements for a few districts. The government has millions and billions of resources but the affectees have been rendered helpless, he said, adding only fake promises are made by the government with no practical actions.
Sirajul Haq appealed to the government to announce aid for these people forthwith as just Rs 0.5 million is making a fun of them, as rainfalls have destroyed each and everything of the peoples.
He said that there is need of honest leadership to put the country on the right trajectory while three big political parties have been badly exposed in front of the people. He said, “We with the will of Almighty Allah and support of people make the country a welfare Islamic state in true meanings. Now only option available with the people is of Jamaat-e-Islami for laying foundation of corruption-free Islamic Pakistan while rejecting feudal lords and corrupt capitalists, he concluded.
