Constitutional petition filed against President Dr. Arif Alvi in the Supreme Court of Pakistan
ISLAMABAD, Nov 25 (SABAH): A constitutional petition has been filed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan against President Dr. Arif Alvi, saying that the president has misused his office and ridiculed it.
The petitioner urged the court to either bar Dr. Arif Alvi from using his powers as the president of Pakistan or remove him from office.
In the petition filed by a citizen named Ghulam Murtaza Khan under Article 184-3 of the Constitution, it was said that President Dr. Arif Alvi misused his authority and insulted the office of the president.
According to the petition, the president belongs to the entire nation and not to a political party, he has dedicated the presidential office to PTI political activities.
President Dr. Arif Alvi was guilty of unconstitutional action and it was the president’s job to give the date of the general elections, but he did not give the date, it added.
The petitioner further said that the President did not ensure the implementation of the Constitution under Article 5, he should be stopped from working as president and action should be taken for violation of the Constitution. The petitioner is the resident of Islamabad. Petitioner has made President Dr. Arif Alvi, Secretary to the President and Ministry of Law and Justice, Pakistan Secretariat, Islamabad as party in the petition.
