LAHORE, July 18 (SABAH): The collaboration between the Islamic world and China can lay the foundation for a new global system, said Jamaat-e-Islami Foreign Affairs Department Director Asif Luqman Qazi on Tuesday during a discussion with officials of Communist Party of China in Urumqi Xinjiang.
Asif Luqman Qazi is part of the delegation led by Dr. Qibla Ayaz, the head of the Islamic Ideological Council. Governor of Xinjiang, Arkin Tuniyaz, and other important government officials also attended the meeting. This visit was made in response to an invitation from the Chinese government.
With a combined population of 1.80 billion Muslims and 1.45 billion Chinese, they have the potential to promote international affairs based on justice, said Asif Luqman Qazi. He said that Pakistan and China’s relations have successfully withstood every test. In the current global scenario, he said, China and Pakistan support each other at all levels of international forums. China has consistently supported Islamabad on the Kashmir and Palestine issues, he added.
“We respect China’s regional security concerns. The expansion of the CPEC project should be pursued further, and the establishment of industries in Special Economic Zones should be our top priority” he said.
During this visit, the delegation also toured mosques in China, including the educational institution, Sinkiang Islamic Institute, led by Imam Abdul Raqib Al-Husaini, and the Eidgah Mosque in Kashgar. The delegation also includes Maulana Dr. Ata ur Rahman.
