CM Buzdar visits Murree to oversee rescue operation


MURREE, Jan 09 (SABAH): Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar on Sunday reached in Murree to review the rescue operation in the area after 23 people died in their snow trapped cars.

According to details, the chief minister also visited the snowstorm hit areas and was briefed on the rescue operation. Preliminary report of the tragic incident has also been presented to Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.

As per sources, the report submitted to the Punjab chief minister said that Murree has the capacity to park 32,000 vehicles, while more than 72,000 vehicles entered Murree on Thursday.

The report also stated that the tourists parked their vehicles on the side of the roads after parking space ended.

It merits mention that at least 23 people have lost their lives while being trapped in their vehicles after snowstorm in Murree and other northern areas of the country.

The soldiers of Pakistan Army also assisted the civil administration participated in relief activities to rescue the stranded tourists.
