CJP Qazi Faez Isa stresses the need for restoring common man’s trust that justice is delivered
ISLAMABAD, Jan 06 (SABAH): Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faez Isa on Saturday said live telecast of case proceedings at the Supreme Court would enable an ordinary citizen to watch delivery of justice and bring more transparency to the system.
Addressing a ceremony at the Federal Judicial Academy, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa said those studying law could greatly help themselves by watching the court hearings, as he highlighted the importance of technology being an effective tool to access knowledge.
Use of technology has also saved previous sources, he said – a reference to the projects launched in Punjab and other regions.
Chief Justice stressed the need for restoring common man’s trust that justice is delivered and recalled that he first ordered live transmission of Practice and Procedure Act 2023 case after assuming his office.
Chief justice said that principle feature of our system is “justice must not only be done but be seen to be done”. The chief justice said and urged the audience to treat all the parties equally.
He regretted the court staff previously didn’t get the importance which they deserve. However, the Supreme Court staff would now receive training at the Federal Judicial Academy.
Pakistan’s top judge praised Supreme Court Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah for introducing changes in the academy where training is imparted to judges under various phases.
He reminded the audience that the civil judges are the first in judiciary to be faced by the applicants. Better trained civil judges would lessen the burden of cases on courts, the chief justice noted.
Chief Justice emphasized district courts’ role in boosting public confidence in the judiciary. He said the district judiciary should ensure fairness and treat the lawyers with respect. The Chief Justice underscored the need to discourage frivolous litigation, emphasizing that the imposition of costs is the only way to stem this issue. Qazi Faez Isa also stressed for environment protection saying it is the matter of our future.
