Civil, military resolves to consolidate peace in the country to deal with terrorism with iron hands
ISLAMABAD, Dec 30 (SABAH): The National Security Committee (NSC) expressed resolved on Friday to consolidate the hard-earned peace in the country and deal with terrorism with iron hands.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired the NSC meeting and it was attended by federal ministers including Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Asif and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Chairman Joints Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen Sahir Shmashad Mirza, Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir, other services chiefs and spymaster Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum also attended the meeting.
The moot of civil and military leadership came as Pakistan witnessed surge in terrorism cases after the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) withdrew from the ceasefire agreement. Forum vowed to establish peace in every nook and corner of the country. It also resolved to ensure effective implementation of the National Action Plan.
The decision to call the NSC meeting was taken at a meeting between the prime minster and the army chief on Thursday last. At the meeting, PM Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the recent terror incidents as the top guns pledged to crush the terrorism menace across the country.
