CDA committed to the development of Islamabad: Muhammad Ali Randhawa

ISLAMABAD, March 20 (SABAH): An important meeting was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, regarding various projects completed, ongoing projects as well as proposed future projects as well as beautification plan of Islamabad, price control of food items during the Holy month of Ramadan in Ramzan Relief Bazars. The meeting was attended by the Member Admin, Member Planning, Member Engineering, Member Finance, DG Environment, DG Building Control and other senior officers of CDA, MCI and DMA.

Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhwa said that CDA is committed to the development of Islamabad through strengthening infrastructure, supply of clean drinking water through Islamabad Water, beautification of Islamabad by adopting clean, green and safe Islamabad through plantation of environment friendly trees through involving youth, teachers, businessmen, public and private organisations as well as NGOs in order to have collective efforts to make Islsmabad best of the best capital of World. He stated that CDA is working on various projects to promote tourism in Islamabad, improve citizens’ facilities, and modernize the city’s infrastructure as well as introducing electric buses in order to ease out difficulties of commuters of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Muhammad Ali Randhawa mentioned that these projects will not only provide excellent facilities for the citizens but will also establish Islamabad as a major hub for tourism, recreational and hospitality sector. He instructed that efforts be accelerated to complete these projects on time and directed the preparation of initial working papers and feasibility reports for all projects to begin work promptly. Chairman CDA said that CDA is committed to improving the citizens’ welfare and the development of Islamabad through practical steps enhancing infrastructure, tourism, and other recreational projects to make Islamabad a modern and tourist city.

Furthermore, Chairman CDA was briefed on the official prices of food items during the Holy month of Ramadan. The briefing highlighted the extensive measures being taken by CDA and ICT to ensure the availability of food items at government rates so that citizens do not face any difficulties. As of now, 6,105 inspections have been conducted by ICT while 183 shops have been sealed and 126 FIRs have been registered against the profiteers. A total number of 1,393 people have been arrested for violating laws. In total, fines amounting to Rs. 1,736,500 have been imposed.

Muhammad Ali Randhawa stressed that official price lists should be prominently displayed in the Ramdhan bazars set up under the Ramadan relief package, so that the public can be made aware of the actual prices. He further stated that hoarding and profiteering will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and strict legal action will be taken against violators.

Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad appreciated the dedicated efforts of CDA and ICT for proper monitoring of prices thus ensuring the shop keepers to sell their food items in line with the prices determined by market committee under Ramzan Relief Package in which prices are very much less than the open market and people are also appreciating Chairman CDA’s efforts in this regard. Chairman CDA concluded by saying that providing maximum relief to citizens during the month of Ramadan is a top priority of CDA for citizens. CDA and ICT are not only strictly monitoring  the prices but are ensure that citizen should purchase all food items according to the official price list.
