Caretaker govt committed to hold free, fair & transparent elections in the country: Murtaza Solangi

ISLAMABAD, Nov 04 (SABAH): Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi has said the caretaker government is committed to hold free, fair and transparent elections in the country.

Speaking during a program of a private news channel, Murtaza Solangi said the government will provide all out support to the Election Commission in the conduct of elections.

The Minister said it is gratifying that we are moving towards a constitutional process that will result in the people electing a political government. He said any doubts should be removed as the date for elections is announced.   

Murtaza Solangi said that the elections will be held on the announced dates, adding that all the people including Supreme Court of Pakistan, President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi and Election Commission of Pakistan are on the same page. He said that there are some rumor spreading factories in the country, which are used to always cook the uncertainty. He said that it has been written in the preamble of the Constitution that the country will be run by the elected representatives and no one had any ambiguity and doubt about it.

Murtaza Solangi said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is a registered political party and it will have the permission to take part in the elections. He said that if some people have legal issues, the caretaker government could not do anything about it, adding that the caretaker government could not stop arrest of anyone and also could not stop their court matters and also could not fasten them as it was not the duty of the caretaker government.

Murtaza Solangi said that according to the directions given by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in Faizabad sit-in case, no one could be allowed to stage gathering at a place which could create disturbance in the lives of the masses. He said that it is not the duty of the caretaker government to make someone happy, adding that our duty is to act according to the law and Constitution. Replying a question, Murtaza Solangi said that Caretaker Privatization Minister Fawad Hassan Fawad has never given any statement in favor of PML-N, adding that he never filled the membership farm of PML-N and he never organized any PML-N gathering. He said that leveling allegation against anyone is an easy work to do in Pakistan.

Murtaza Solangi said that he has affixed the picture of late Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto at his twitter profile, adding that someone says I am the man of Asif Zardari, someone says I am the man of Bilawal Bhutto and someone says I belong to PML-N, adding that I have no connection with any party. He said that the caretaker governments came into being while following the Constitution. He said that the 9th May attack was not on the establishment but it was attack on the State of Pakistan and its institutions. He said that 9th May incidents were a planned activity, which was carried out through a planning.

Murtaza Solangi said till now he feels the federal government will approach the Supreme Court of Pakistan against the apex court verdict rejecting the trial of the civilians in the military courts. He said that Dr. Faisal Sultan, who remained an important member of the Shaukat Khanum Hospital, has expressed satisfaction regarding the health of Chairman PTI and former prime minister Imran Khan. He said no one is the favorite of caretaker government.
