British HC Jane Marriott calls on Maulana Fazlur Rehman; discuss important matters
ISLAMABAD, Dec 07 (SABAH): British High Commissioner in Pakistan Jane Marriott and Political Secretary Sam Fletcher called on Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) Ameer Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Islamabad on Thursday and discussed important matters.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed concern over the considerable loss of innocent lives in Gaza, particularly among women and children. He criticized Western nations for their unwavering support of Israel, urging a reconsideration of their stance.
One of the key themes of the meeting was women’s education in Afghanistan.
Jane Marriott sought Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s support in this regard, emphasizing the need for educational initiatives in the country currently governed by the Taliban.
While expressing support for women’s education, Maulana Fazlur Rehman urged international stakeholders to be cognizant of the cultural nuances of Afghanistan. He emphasized that any efforts toward women’s education should consider the Islamic and Pashtun backgrounds prevalent in the region.
Other JUI-F leaders Hafiz Hamdullah, Jalaluddin Advocate and Mufti Abrar were also present during the meeting.
