Bangladesh must consider establishing a nuclear treaty with Pakistan: Prof. Dr. Shahiduzzaman

DHAKA, Sep 15 (SABAH): Distinguished Bangladeshi Professor of International Relations and a security specialist Dr. Shahiduzzaman has said that we (Bangladesh) must consider establishing a nuclear treaty with Pakistan. He said that Pakistan stands as the most reliable and trustworthy security ally of Bangladesh.

They would go to any extent to safeguard us from Indian aggression, remarked Professor Dr. Shahiduzzaman at the Retired Armed Forces Officers’ Welfare Association (RAOWA) meeting.

Professor Dr. Shahiduzzaman’s proposals were met with resounding approval from the retired army officers present in the ceremony.

Professor Dr. Shahiduzzaman said that we have to develop a nuclear treaty with our former adversary Pakistan, adding that without allies and without technology India can not be deterred. He said that Pakistan is the most reliable and trustworthy security ally of Bangladesh and this is what Indians want us not to believe.

He said that the nuclearization and negotiations and solid defense partnership with Pakistan is absolutely essential. He said that the Indian attitude towards Bangladesh is continuously is one of threatening.

It is worth mentioning here that after the ouster of prime minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid from power after 15 years of continuous rule in result of students movement, first time the birth anniversary of Pakistan’s founder late Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was celebrated in Bangladesh on 11th September. After ouster of Sheikh Hasina Wajid, the voices in favour of Pakistan and against India are being raised.
