Babar Awan asks opposition to support govt in legislation process


ISLAMABAD, Dec 22 (SABAH): Adviser to the Prime Minister on Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Zaheeruddin Babar Awan says Pakistan will not allow anyone to use the territory of homeland against any other country.

Addressing book launching ceremony in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said Pakistan is peace loving country and is moving toward development utilizing massive potential of investments in different sectors.

He said that Pakistan is a land of opportunities in the Asia for the future of the humanity and the region as well.

Later, talking to Media, the Adviser said that Pakistan is a gateway for Central Asian States for the rest of the world and the sea as well. He said keeping this important location in view, Pakistan is developing a special strategy for business and regional connectivity through different mega projects.

He said that the government will stop horse trading and sale-purchasing of vote in the upper house through amendments in Election Act according to judgment of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the federal cabinet has approved in principle to table this draft in the parliament.

The Adviser asked the opposition to support the government in the legislation process to ensure transparent, free and fair election in the country through I-voting and E-voting.

He said in the next general elections, over 9 million Pakistan diaspora living abroad will enjoy the right of vote and contribute their role in decision making process.
