WASHINGTON, D.C. July 10 (SABAH): Finally, Sardar Zarif Khan, Advisor to the President of Azad Kashmir and founding Chairman of ‘Kashmir American welfare Association’ (KAWA) is at home after spending 34 long days at INOVA Hospital and 21 days Inpatient Rehabilitation Center, Fairfax, Virginia.
At this stage, we feel obliged to give the update to the well-wishers of Zarif Sahib about his current health progress, said Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai who visited him at his home along with Raja Liaqat Kayani, Sardar Shoaib Irshad and Sardar Aazam Kayani. It was almost eight months ago that Zarif Sahib had a lower abdominal pain.
He went to his primary care doctor who referred him to the gastrologist specialist. A lot of tests were performed by GI which turned out to be negative. Later, Zarif Sahib felt numbness in his right leg. Soon after that he scheduled an MRI not only for the leg but also for his back. After evaluating the MRI report, few doctors including Dr. Ghulam N. Mir suggested to go for the surgery which was performed on May 8, 2024.
After surgery, Zarif Sahib spent 34 days in the hospital and 21 days in Inpatient Rehabilitation Center. On July 3, 2024, he was discharged from the hospital and is now resting at home with his family.
Yesterday, on July 9th, he had a prep post doctor appointment to check the x-ray. The report was satisfactory. His physician, however, suggested that he needs more exercise and therapies for his both legs to help him reach his highest level of functioning. He will have difficulty in walking for time being. However, within next six months, he should be able to walk normally without any assistive devices.
Sardar Zarif Khan Sahib and his family were very appreciative of those thousands of well-wishers who prayed for his early recovery not only in the United States but also in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan and beyond. He wanted to convey his profound gratitude to all his well-wishers around the globe for their thoughtfulness and Du’a.
