Appointment of judges in high courts should be on merit & free from objections, doubts & suspicions: Liaqat Baloch

LAHORE, Jan 06 (SABAH): Deputy Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, former parliamentary leader Liaqat Baloch while talking to the delegation of lawyers said that appointment of judges in high courts should be on merit and free from objections, doubts and suspicions. Mutual trust and respect between the bench and the bar is essential for the delivery of justice. If a woman has the right to be a judge, then she must be appointed, but the woman should not be made controversial by violating the merit. The independence of the judiciary and the trust and respect of the people speak for justice.

Liaqat Baloch said that the process of indictment of journalists in the Islamabad High Court was raising many questions for the judiciary itself. In a case which is a fact and has been admitted, imposing an indictment on its publication does not meet the requirements of justice. Newspapers, media, journalists are not responsible in this case. Journalist organizations, human rights organizations are appealing for leniency towards journalists in this case. The judiciary is requested to grant this appeal so that the Pandora’s box is not opened on the basis of a weak case.

Liaqat Baloch said that Imran Khan has proved to be a very expensive brand for the country and the nation. In the PTI government, inflation has become a catastrophe for the common man, the poor white-clad class. There is an earth and sky, day and night-like difference in Imran Khan’s speeches and actions and government performance. In speeches, fantastic and attractive claims, actions are made but the output is zero. Inflation, unemployment, bribery and corruption are on the rise. In order to take the country out of the political, constitutional, economic and ideological crisis, the national leadership must take care of the future of the country and the people by giving up stubbornness, ego and interests. The toughest, most destructive terms with the IMF are imposed by internal turmoil and weak governance. The terrible economic burden on the people and the nation is unbearable.
