Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar stresses transparency in the whole privatization process of PIA
ISLAMABAD, Oct 11 (SABAH): Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has directed to expedite work on privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and other loss making government enterprises.
Addressing a high level meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar stressed transparency in the whole privatization process. He directed that the process of privatization of the national airline should be made transparent and expedited so that the national exchequer is protected from further losses.
The Prime Minister said that the aviation sector’s reforms will help provide better traveling facilities to the people.
The Caretaker Prime Minister said it is very important to determine those responsible for the losses being faced by state owned enterprises so that remedial steps could be taken. He said it is no longer possible to meet the deficit of these institutions from public taxes.
The meeting was informed about the financial position of PIA and progress of privatization process. It was also informed that all obstacles in the privatization of PIA have been removed.
