Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar attends opening ceremony of 78th Session of United Nations General Assembly


NEW YORK, Sep 19 (SABAH): The 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly began in New York on Tuesday.

United Nations Secretary General António Guterres inaugurated the session, while Pakistani Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar attended the opening sitting of the General Debate of 78th UNGA session at the UN Headquarters in New York. Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani and Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram were present on the occasion along with the Caretaker PM.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar’s engagements in New York on Tuesday included his address to the participants of Global Development Initiative and Sustainable Development Goals summit.

On the bilateral side, the Pakistan Prime Minister is likely to hold meetings with Iranian President Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar will also attend the banquet to be hosted in honour of world leaders by US President Joe Biden.

Theme for the 78th session is “Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability for all.”
