Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Mosque criticizes IIOJK authorities for barring Eid prayers at Srinagar Eidgah
SRINAGAR, June 28 (SABAH): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar has strongly condemned the occupation authorities’ for disallowing Eid-ul-Azha prayers at the historic Eidgah in Srinagar on Thursday.
The Anjuman said it had announced that Eid prayers would be held at Eidgah at 9 am on Thursday, however, the occupation authorities have disallowed the same.
“Barring prayers at Eidgah is extremely unfortunate and condemnable. The decision has hurt the sentiments of Muslims of the Valley,” it said.
Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid said that it is highly regrettable that for the past several years, the occupation authorities have been deliberately barring large gatherings of Eid prayers in Kashmir, which is tantamount to interfering in the religious affairs of Muslims and violation of Islamic teachings.
The Anjuman Auqaf also denounced the continued detention of its president Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who traditionally delivers the Eid sermon at Eidgah before Eid prayers.
“Despite appeals by various religious, political, social organisations and the civil society regarding his release, he is being continuously detained, which is extremely sad and disturbing,” it added.
