An Indian army Colonel, Major & Deputy Superintendent of Police killed in attack in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district in IIOJK
SRINAGAR, Sep 13 (SABAH): An Indian army Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Aashish Dhonchak and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Himanyun Muzamil Bhat were killed in an attack in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) o n Wednesday.
According to media reports, the killings took place after a joint team of Indian army and Police came under attack in Kokernag area of the district, Indian officials said.
The attack came when Indian officers were engaged in a cordon and search operation in Gadole, Kokarnag area, on Wednesday morning, the police officials added.
Colonel Manpreet Singh was the commanding officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles (19 RR) unit.
Rashtriya Rifles is the counter-insurgency force of the army that operates in Jammu and Kashmir.
The bodies of the police officer and the two army officers have been retrieved from the dense forests of the Kokernag area of Anantnag.
Meanwhile Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred one more Kashmiri youth in Rajouri district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on Wednesday.
The troops martyred the youth during a cordon and search operation in Khawa area of the district. This killing raised the number of the martyred youth to two in the area since Tuesday.
Earlier, an Indian army man and a cop of Special Operations Group of police were killed while two soldiers were injured in an attack in the same area on Tuesday. An Indian Army dog, which was part of the operation, was also killed in the attack.
The troops continued their military operations on the 9th consecutive day, on Wednesday, in different areas of the district.
