Ameerul Azim strongly condemns attack, torture on JI Member Sindh Assembly Syed Abdul Rashid at Karachi’s Lyari General Hospital


LAHORE, Dec 21 (SABAH): Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameerul Azim has condemned the attack and torture on Jamaat-e-Islami Member of Sindh Assembly Syed Abdul Rashid at Karachi’s Lyari General Hospital in the strongest possible terms demanded of the government take prompt action against the perpetrators of this heinous act.

In a statement issued from Mansoorah on Wednesday, Ameerul Azim said the hooligans tortured the Jamaat-e-Islami’s member of provincial assembly elected from Lyari and continued his clothes were torn as well as was threaten to kill him.

In the many areas particularly Karachi, hooliganism was on its climax and the people alongside their elected member of assembly was unsafe, he deplored.  “Syed Abdul Rashid was tortured because he had pointed to corrupt practices committed of the rulers. Jamaat-e-Islami will not remain tightlipped against this cruelty and barbarism,” he concluded.

Syed Abdul Rashid had stated “I am elected MPA of the area and the employees of the medical and nursing college put me in illegal confinement for two hours. They tortured me and threatened me with dire consequences,” he said, adding that the incident took place when the protest by the students was going on against the principal of the medical college.

“I have already raised the issue in the house about Rs280 million bungled by the hospital administration and medical college. The hospital administration has purchased one bed for patients at Rs1.2 million,” he said, adding that he came under attack on the order of Medical College Principal Anjum Rehman and Nursing College Principal (Male) who have looted the public resources while sitting illegally on their positions. “Their hired criminals attacked me,” he said.
