Ameerul Azim announces blockade of Islamabad if relief was not given to the poor people in budget

LAHORE, May 7 (SABAH): On appeal of Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Sirajul Haq, protest demonstrations were taken out against sky-rocketing inflation in the country at the provincial division district headquarters on Sunday. These demonstrations were held at Peshawar, Quetta, Islamabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha and at other venues.

In Lahore, a protest demonstration was taken out at Multan Chungi, organized by Jamaat-e-Islami West. Addressing on the occasion, Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameerul Azim has announced blockade of Islamabad if in the budget the perks and privileges of the prime minister, ministers, bureaucracy, judges and generals including free-of-cost electricity, petrol and government vehicles were not abolished and relief was not given to the poor people.

Expressing surprise, secretary general Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan remarked, “What a barbaric act it is that earning belongs to poor people while perks and privileges are being enjoyed only by generals, judges, bureaucrats, members of assemblies, speakers and prime minister!”

He further deplored, “Government’s act of enhancing gas meter rent to 500 is tantamount to imposing jaga tax on the masses and emphasized upon it to reverse the decision forthwith. Government must slash petrol and diesel prices as well. 60 percent increase in life saving drugs must be taken back.”

Ameerul Azim warned the public if they didn’t hold the former as well as present rulers accountable, they would wipe out them [people] from the surface of earth although they looted country’s wealth for building their palaces foreign while on the other side Pakistanis are seen stumbling.
