Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh holds constructive meeting with APPAC to discuss avenues for cooperation b/w Pak & the United States
NEW YORK, Nov 01 (SABAH): Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh held a constructive meeting with the American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee (APPAC) to discuss avenues for cooperation between Pakistan and the United States. The discussion covered a range of topics, with a particular focus on expanding opportunities for Pakistani professionals in the U.S. and supporting APPAC’s initiatives in strengthening community ties.
Discussions also focused on attracting investment to Pakistan in key sectors, including healthcare, education, IT, and skilled labor, under Pakistan’s Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) framework. Ambassador Sheikh emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to providing facilitation and support for U.S.-Pakistan business and investment linkages, which could yield mutual benefits for both countries.
Ambassador Sheikh appreciated APPAC’s efforts toward shared goals for the welfare of the Pakistani diaspora, with particular reference to the Sister States arrangements between New York and the provinces of Punjab and Sindh in Pakistan- and assured them of his support.
Meanwhile Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh had a meeting with Congressman Tom Suozzi in New York.
Ambassador underscored the Congressman’s important role, as the Co-Chair of the Congressional Pakistan Caucus, towards forging closer Pak-US ties on the Hill. Held discussions on ways to promote economic partnership, security cooperation, and people-to-people ties. Ambassador also invited Congressman to visit Pakistan.
Meanwhile Rizwan Saeed Sheikh met with prominent Pakistani-origin businessmen representing key sectors, including travel and tourism, petroleum, textiles, IT services, and food imports. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral trade, fostering economic collaboration between the U.S. and Pakistan, emphasizing mutual growth and investment opportunities. Ambassador Sheikh listened to their suggestions and concerns, assuring them of his commitment to supporting their efforts. He encouraged continued exploration of investment and partnership opportunities to strengthen trade and economic ties between the two countries.
