Allegations against Imran Khan have been proved in ECP: Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD, August 6 (SABAH): Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said on Saturday that allegations against Imran Khan have been proved in the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Khawaja Muhammad Asif said this during an interview with a private TV channel on Saturday. He said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has sent its findings in the Foreign Funding Case against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to the federal government, adding that they will send these recommendations to the Supreme Court of Pakistan; however, it is up to the Supreme Court (SC) to ban PTI or not.

In the past the parties were not banned by the court and were banned during marshal law periods, he said, and added that these are the findings of Election Commission while they are just demanding the SC to give verdict in this regard. He said that it does not make any difference for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) that the Punjab government slipped out of its hands, adding that the federal government is running very smoothly.

On the matter of return of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif back to the country, he said the party has not discussed this matter, adding all such conversation is being done by media. He said that Nawaz Sharif will surely return back to the country but this matter has not been discussed till now. He said that there is period of four month left in the appointment of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) so there is no need to decide this matter a few months ahead.

Replying a question, Khawaja Asif said that no discussion has been held for placing the name of Imran Khan on ECL.
