All frauds, anomalies in Digital Census to be brought to light: Hafiz Naeemur Rehman

KARACHI, April 12 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman inaugurated census monitoring cell web portal www-ji-census-cell-com at Idara Noor-e-Haq on Wednesday, established in connection with highlighting frauds, anomalies and issue of showing less population of Karachi in “Digital Census.”

On this occasion, General Secretary Jamaat-e-Islami Munim Zafar Khan, Deputy Secretary Yunus Barai, Secretary Information Zahid Askari, in-charge monitoring cell Imran Shahid and others were present.

Later, while talking to media persons, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that masses of Karachi were being deceived on the name of “Digital Census” which was not acceptable at all. He further said that Jamaat-e-Islami has decided to highlight frauds, anomalies and the issue of showing less population of Karachi in “Digital Census” and inaugurated census monitoring cell web portal at Idara Noor-e-Haq wherein Karachities would be allowed to submit their complaints.

He further asked the newly-elected chairmen and vice chairmen to go to each and every corner of the city and get the unregistered people registered. Through the web portal, he noted, case of Karachi would be put before the entire nation and added they would adopt each and every constitutional and legal way for the rights of the people of Karachi.

Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi said they demand of the quarters concerned to count each and every person living in the city in the respective areas and asked for giving extension in the census process. According to statistics institution, he further said population of the city is 15 million but there are 3.3 million meters and if one meter is multiplied with six persons, it would exceed 15 million and added the same is case is with the gas meters.

He further said that according to the record of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), population of Karachi is 30 million, saying in any way the city’s population was not less than 30 million but exceeds 35 million. If rights of Karachities would be snatched, they would raise voice in this regard at each and every forum and will get the census rectified with the assistance of masses, he added.

He maintained that heads of all parties feel pain the moment some issue regarding rights of people of the city is taken up. He further said that Karachi belongs to all people speaking Pashtu, Punjabi and other languages, adding it should be mentioned in the SOPs of census that someone must be counted wherever he/she is residing.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman questioned all the parties which were part of federal government to tell the nation what role they have played regarding the census. At present when all materials and information are available through the software then why the people have not been allowed to have an access to the data of census that they may check whether they have been counted or not, he questioned.
