Alkhidmat Foundation’s relief camps providing relief, rescue in surrounding areas of River Sutlej, River Ravi, River Chenab

LAHORE, Sep 1 (SABAH): Activities under Alkhidmat Foundation continued in flood affected areas of the country. Relief camps have been established in surrounding areas of River Sutlej, River Ravi and River Chenab in Punjab where rescue and relief activities are underway.

Talking on this occasion, President of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Dr Hafeezur Rehman said that rehabilitation work in a number of areas affected by floods during the last year has not been completed to date whereas the country once again hit by recent monsoon rains.

He further said water inundated due to intense downpours due to which it caused losses to crops, livestock and thousands of people. “In the light of the situation, Alkhidmat Foundation had alerted its volunteers who are present with full preparation along with relevant equipment in Gandapur Singh, Mandi Usman Wala, Kanganpur, Haveli Lakha, Basirpur, Arifwala and Pakpattan,” he added. 

Sharing the details, Dr Hafeezur Rehman said that Alkhidmat has so far distributed packets of 16,400 cooked ration, three water tanks, 912 jerrycan, 400 food packages, 37 tents and 400 mosquito nets. Besides this, he noted one medical camp, another medical health unit and six boats were busy in rescue and relief activities. He further said that more than 100 volunteers of Alkhidmat Foundation have rescued 3,670 individuals so far.
