Alkhidmat Foundation will stand by flood victims till last moment: Umme Kaslsoom Ranjha


LAHORE, Sep 9 (SABAH): President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Women Wing Umme Kalsoom Ranjha has said that Alkhidmat Foundation is standing with the people affected by the heavy rains and floods. Thousands of volunteer women are taking part in the relief activities.

Umme Kalsoom Ranjha expressed these views on the occasion of departure of relief goods from the Alkhidmat Foundation’s Women Wing Head Office at Mansoorah on Wednesday. 

She said that a field hospital was setup in Sukkur on the bank of the River Indus to provide medical facilities to the people affected by the heavy downpours and catastrophic floods.

She went on to say that at the field hospital, free-of-cost medical facilities were being provided to the patients. In this field hospital, approximately 600 patients were being given medical treatment under the supervision of skin specialist, gynecologist and general physicians.

While shedding light on the continuing work on health issues of Alkhidmat Foundation in the areas affected by heavy rains and floods, Chairman Alkhidmat Health Foundation, Umme Kalsoom Ranjha said till today, 230 medical campuses were established where almost 65,000 patients were provided with the required medical treatment.

She maintained that these campuses were installed in various districts of Sindh, Balochistan, South Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She said that Alkhidmat’s doctors, paramedical staff and volunteers are continuing with their services by reaching in the far-flung flood-hit areas through boats and ambulances.

Large number of patients were affected by diarrhea, gastro as well skin diseases in the affected areas, she said, and added that number of dengue patients was also multiplying with the passage of time. She further said as per an estimate, almost there were 650,000 pregnant women in these areas who were in dire need of gynecologists and this will remain the same in next three to six months. In the light of these circumstances, she said the Alkhidmat Foundation will setup a Gyne field hospital at Sukkur to facilitate the patients to address such issues

Umme Kalsoom Ranjha while paying tribute to the volunteer sisters said that Alkhidmat was expanding its network to help out the victims and God-willing it will continue working until the last victim was provided with the relief. She also thanked the people for their unflinching support to Alkhidmat Foundation in this test time and further appealed to them to continue their donations so that hardships of those affected people were eased.
