Alkhidmat Foundation will set up 50 new schools in Balochistan: Syed Waqas Jafri
LAHORE, Jan 24 (SABAH): Under Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan and JICA, a training workshop was organized for regional managers, coordinators and assistant managers of Alkhidmat Education Program. Motif behind holding the workshop was to inculcate awareness about curriculum, non-formal basic education prepared for children who could not go to schools due to unavailability of the economic resources.
In the training workshop, Secretary General Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Syed Waqas Jafri, National Director Alkhidmat Education Program Dr. Ahmed Jibran Baloch, Deputy Chief Advisor JICA Pakistan Abid Gull and trainers Muhammad Younas and Sajjad Haider participated.
Regarding International Day of Education, Syed Waqas Jafri said that education is a basic element of development of any nation and development without education is not possible. He expressed his concerns over a recent report in which 26.2 million children have been revealed as deprived of education. He said Alkhidmat Foundation will make these children a part of its child protection centers with the assistance of donors.
He further said that Alkhidmat has already set up child protection centers for children who are deprived of education with regards to short term education where children are provided books, schools bags and shoe whereas during winter they are provided jackets and blankets besides refreshment during noon.
Syed Waqas Jafri said that Alkhidmat Foundation along with Ghazali School Foundation will set up 50 new schools in Balochistan whereas number of child protection centres would be doubled in one year in all the provinces of the country for the children who are deprived of education.
On this occasion, Abid Gull told the participants that curriculum has been prepared by Literacy and Non Formal Basic Education Department as per the needs of provinces separately.
