Alkhidmat Foundation under its ‘Smog Free Lahore’ campaign would plant 100,000 trees across the city: Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Mangat
LAHORE, May 17 (SABAH): Alkhidmat Foundation under its ‘Smog Free Lahore’ campaign would plant 100,000 trees across the city.
Basic motif of the campaign was to persuade the people to plant maximum trees and provide them healthy environment while making it smog-free.
In connection with this, a delegation headed by Vice President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Mangat held a meeting with PHA Director General Muhammad Tahir Wattoo at Parks and Horticulture Headquarters.
On this occasion, Vice President of Alkhidmat Foundation Lahore, Chaudhry Muhammad Saleem, Additional Director General PHA Safiullah and other office-bearers were present.
During the meeting, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Mangat said that Alkhidmat Foundation with the cooperation of Parks and Horticulture as well Forest Departments has a plan of planting 10 million plants across the country. On May 24, he added a grand program was going to be held near Lahore Airport with a view of making it a smog-free city wherein during the first phase, more than 15,000 plants would be planted. On this occasion, a large number of male and female students from renowned universities will participate being part of the campaign.
He further said that country’s future was in the hands of youth and added, “We can set an example for the world while making our country green. Want of trees exacerbates smog. Plants spread pollution and produce diseases. Plantation will decrease pollution and it is a kind of perpetual charity.”
He added, “We have to make our country green. It is also a need of hour to abstain from negative effects of climate change. Alkhidmat Foundation will also oversee these newly-planted plants.”
On the occasion, Muhammad Tahir Wattoo said that Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan’s ‘Smog Free Lahore’ like services were laudable. He also appealed to the masses to enthusiastically participate in this drive and play their role in the betterment of the environment. He assured their full cooperation with Alkhidmat Foundation for making the campaign a success.
