Alkhidmat Foundation to plant 2.5 million saplings across the country under the Clean & Green Pakistan Movement: Dr. Mushtaq Mangat

LAHORE, Aug 7 (SABAH): Alkhidmat Foundation has announced to celebrate a week-long plantation campaign from August 11 to August 18 across the country under Clean and Green Pakistan Movement. Under the Sir Sabz Pakistan campaign, 3 lakh saplings will be planted across the country, including Lahore, while a total of 25 lakh saplings will be planted across Pakistan, including 10 lakh saplings in Lahore.

In this regard, a press conference was held at the Lahore Press Club in which Vice President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan and Chairman Volunteers Department Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Ahmed Mangat, Chaudhry Muhammad Saleem, Vice President of Lahore Region, Senior Manager Media Relations Shoaib Hashmi and other officials participated in large numbers. Dr. Mushtaq Mangat while explaining the details of Green and Clean Pakistan Movement said that plantation under Sir Sabz Pakistan is a part of our big movement. Under which plant nurseries are also being established along with the awareness campaign related to tree planting for which a budget of Rs.80 lakh has been allocated, he added.

He said that Alkhidmat Foundation selects plants that are not harmful to humans or animals and also play a role in reducing pollution. In this planting campaign, along with various educational institutions across Pakistan, ordinary youth are performing volunteer services with us, he added.

He said that more than planting, their protection and care after planting is important, for this we have the support of PHA Lahore which takes complete care of the planted plants.

Dr. Mushtaq Mangat further said that last year we organized 9 plantation drives in which thousands of volunteers served, 28 plantation drives have been organized since this year. Dr. Mushtaq Mangat said that plantation is the need of the hour, adding while climate change has affected the entire world, Pakistan is one of the countries most affected by climate change.

On the occasion of the 2022 flood, UN Secretary General said that Pakistan has the least role in the deterioration of climate change in the world, but Pakistan has been the most affected. He said due to smog in winter and heat and melting of glaciers in summer, floods have become common in the northern regions, which are affecting thousands of people.
