Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan organizes six day long eye screening camp for 1,200 children in Lahore


LAHORE, Jan 28 (SABAH): Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan with the cooperation of POBI organized six days long free eye screening camp at Alkhidmat School Khursheed Begum Campus Bedian in Lahore. During the screening camp the medical examination of 1,200 students were conducted and free of cost glasses were also provided to them.

At the last day of the free eye screening camp, the chief guest of the ceremony was Country Head of WHO in Pakistan Dr. Palitha Gunarathna Mahipala.

On the occasion Dr. Palitha Gunarathna Mahipala said that it is very important for any organization to provide services at far flung and rural areas in Pakistan like country. He said that the work of Alkhidmat Foundation at countrywide and grassroots level is a unique model, adding that we see this model with great respect and want to work jointly in the health field in future.

President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Muhammad Abdul Shakoor said that World Health Organization (WHO) has done a lot of work in health field and in creating awareness.

On the occasion Alkhidmat Health Department Lahore Director Dr. Ijaz Nazir informed that the trend of weakening of eyesight has increased at dangerous level in the children who are used to see mobile, computer and TV more. He said that Alkhidmat and POBI are conducting eye screening test while keeping this very need in mind, so that the timely eye examination of the children is conducted.

During the eye camp, the eyesight of 20 percent boys and 27 percent of girls was found weak. Free of cost grasses were also provided to them.

Senior Vice President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Syed Ahsan Ullah Waqas, chief of WHO Punjab Dr. Jamshed Ahmed, General Secretary Alkhidmat Health Foundation Dr. Muhammad Zahid Latif and people from different walks of life in large numbers were present on the occasion.
