Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan organizes events in 50 districts on International Day of Persons with Disabilities

ISLAMABAD, Dec 03 (SABAH): Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan organized events in 50 districts on International Day of Persons with Disabilities, in which wheelchairs, white canes, clothes, shoes and other gifts were given to special persons. Central and regional officials in other districts including Islamabad, Gujranwala, Peshawar, Gilgit, Quetta and Kuchlaq participated, expressed solidarity with special persons and expressed their views in the events.

Addressing the International Youth Convention held in the federal capital, Central President Professor Dr. Hafeezur Rehman said that we are committed to bring change in the lives of persons with disabilities, it is a fact that disabled people are an important part of our social and economic structure, and it is our common responsibility to protect their rights, welfare and integrate them into the mainstream of society.

Joining the youth as volunteers in Alkhidmat Foundation is a sign that the spirit of serving humanity is very high among the Pakistani youth, he said,  adding youth who save human lives on the platform of Alkhidmat during disasters are a source of pride for the entire nation.  He said that courageous people have full capacity to turn their dreams into reality. He said that Alkhidmat is committed to providing them with an environment where they can succeed in every aspect of their lives.

Syed Waqas Jafri said that the challenges of disabled people in Pakistan are social and economic as well, we need a structure that special people should not face any kind of obstacle. Businesses and the private sector, including the federal and provincial governments, have an important responsibility to provide employment opportunities to these special people, he added.

Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Ahmed Mangat said that special people need not only sympathy, but real support, adding whenever these brave people get proper education and health facilities and employment opportunities, they play their effective role in social development by making full use of their abilities.

The persons with disabilities are the part of our society who are an example to all of us with their determination and courage, he said, adding we should understand their problems and provide them with facilities that can help them lead a dignified and independent life. Regional President Alkhidmat Foundation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Khalid Waqas participated in the event organized for persons with disabilities at Angels Home Peshawar and gifted wheelchairs, clothes and shoes to special people. Speaking on this occasion, he said that the service of brave people is the capital of this world and the hereafter.

Alkhidmat Foundation is playing its role in providing education, health, supporting equipment and other facilities to special people.  Alkhidmat Foundation Gilgit-Baltistan in collaboration with Special Education Department in a ceremony held in Special Education Complex Gilgit, Regional Secretary General Alkhidmat Zeenat Shah and other guests gave wheelchairs and gifts to the special persons.

Vice President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Zikrullah Mujahid while addressing the function organized for special persons with disabilities in Alkhidmat Aghosh Gujranwala said that Alkhidmat is trying to ensure that no special person is left in Pakistan without provision of wheelchair. But for this, we need the support of the entire nation including the pious people, so far Alkhidmat has provided 45 thousand wheelchairs to special people and this mission of service is going on in every district and region.
