Alkhidmat Foundation organizes seminar titled ‘Social Media Harassment’ at Lahore College for Women University


LAHORE, Mar 03 (SABAH): A seminar was organized in collaboration with Volunteer Program of AlKhidmat Foundation Pakistan and Social Work Department of Lahore College for Women University. The purpose of the seminar titled as “Social Media Harassment”’ was to enlighten female students about safe use of internet, negligence in internet use and its drawbacks and cyber crimes.

On the occasion, speakers delivered speeches about effects of social media harassment, effects of social media on human psychology and ways of remaining safe from cyber harassment. Vice President AlKhidmat Foundation Pakistan Dr. Mushtaq Mangat said in his address that the importance of social media could not be denied in the present time but it was the need of the hour that youth must be thoroughly guided so that any untoward incident could be averted in the future.

Cyber law expert Zain Ali Qureshi said that there were millions of internet users in the country and youth commit cyber crimes owing to lack of knowledge.

Dean of Faculty Arts and Social Sciences Dr. Muhammad Afzal, Head Social Work Department Nazia Salahuddin, Senior Manager Media Relations AlKhidmat Foundation Shoaib Ahmed Hashmi, Incharge Volunteer Program Sanan Akbar, Incharge Volunteer Program AlKhidmat Women Wing Sara Abrar, Minahil Amjad, Hafza Imran, Hina Akbar and Uswa Yaseen and a larger number of teachers and girl students participated in the seminar. Rawiha Idrees hosted the seminar whereas souvenirs and certificates were distributed among the participants at the end of the seminar.
