Alkhidmat Foundation in collaboration with Zakat Foundation of America to distribute 140 ton rice among flood victims of Pakistan


LAHORE, Sep 27 (SABAH): Alkhidmat Foundation in collaboration with United States of America will distribute 140 ton of rice among the masses affected by heavy downpours and catastrophic floods.

Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan and Zakat Foundation of America held a press conference on Tuesday, in connection with ongoing joint relief efforts for restoration and rehabilitation of those affected by disastrous floods in Pakistan.

While addressing the presser, Farrukh Raza said that Zakat Foundation of America in collaboration with the Alkhidmat Foundation is going to distribute 140 ton of rice among the flood victims.

He said that Zakat Foundation of America in collaboration with Alkhidmat Foundation initiated its relief activities after recent floods in Pakistan and added, it is now going to transport 140 tons of rice to 32 flood ravaged districts of Sindh and Balochistan.

Farrukh Raza maintained in total, 10,000 suffering families will benefit from this abovementioned assistance and further stated Zakat Foundation intends to render its services while taking along Alkhidmat Foundation for restoration and rehabilitation of flood victims.

On this occasion, Muhammad Abdus Shakoor stated Pakistanis as well as overseas Pakistanis were extending their full contribution for recovery and rehabilitation of flood victims and continued Zakat Foundation of America was leaving no stone unturned as for the matter of helping out flood victims was concerned.

Alkhidmat Foundation along with thousands of volunteers, ambulances and boats were there at flood-hit areas since beginning of monsoon rains and flood situation, he stated and added 54 tent colonies were setup for the flood affected people.

In the tent colonies, facilities of cooked meals, potable water, medical aid and tent schools were managed for the people, he stated. He added in these flood-hit areas, 13 fixed water filtration plants whereas seven mobile water filtration plants were managed.

Five field hospitals were setup in Sukkur, Dadu, Naseerabad, Quetta and Dera Ismail Khan whereas mobile health units were inaugurated for providing medical treatment to floods victims of remote areas.

It is worth mentioning here that Zakat Foundation, a U.S.-based welfare organisation of Muslims residing in the U.S. always led from the front in relief and rehabilitation activities in Pakistan and other countries of the world.

Among others, President Alkhidmat Foundation Muhammad Abdus Shakoor and Executive Director Zakat Foundation America Farrukh Raza were also present on the occasion.
