Alkhidmat Foundation continues providing potable water to flood victims: Muhammad Abdul Shakoor


LAHORE, Nov 25 (SABAH): Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan was keeping continue delivering clean drinking water to the people affected by the recent heavy downpours and catastrophic floods under its “Clean Drinking Water Program.” More than 2.5 million flood victims were benefitting from Alkhidmat’s Clean Drinking Water Program.

President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Muhammad Abdul Shakoor expressed these views while talking to media persons on Friday. In the flood-hit areas, he further said the rehabilitation work was initiated after rescue and relief phase and added this process needed to be continued till the completion of this process.

Due to unavailability of clean drinking water in the affected areas, diseases like diarrhea were spreading. In the light of prevailing circumstances Alkhidmat Foundation was providing water through 16 stationed water filtration plants in the flood-hit areas whereas it was transporting portable water to far-flung areas through nine mobile water filtration plants.

In flood-hit areas of Sukkur, Jacobabad (Sindh), Rajanpur (Sothern Punjab) and Jaffarabad (Balochistan), 137 water tanks were placed at several points, he said and continued these were being routinely refilled  besides jerry cans were distributed among the victims.

Muhammad Abdul Shakoor said that clean drinking water to over 0.266 million food victims was being provided and added that modern tracking system was installed to maintain record of transportation of the mobile filtration plants. God-willing the services of providing water and others will be kept continue until and unless the complete rehabilitation of food victims, he concluded.
