Alkhidmat begins rehabilitation of 10,000 homes for flood victims in first phase: Muhammad Abdul Shakoor
RAWALPINDI, Dec 08 (SABAH): Volunteers Convention and Recognition of Service Award Programme with regards to International Volunteers Day was held under the auspices of Alkhidmat Foundation Northern Punjab.
Addressing the participants, Central President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Muhammad Abdul Shakoor said that Alkhidmat, in the first phase, has begun rehabilitation of 10,000 homes for those affected by recent rash rains and heavy floods. Not only Pakistan but institutions from across the world while seeing services of Alkhidmat’s volunteers relied on them, he added.
He went on to say that volunteers were their unsung heroes and continued Alkhidmat Foundation was fully sponsoring the orphans of flood-hit areas. He said instead of temporary assistance they will keep sponsoring these orphans until they grow up by providing them with ration, education and health facilities.
On this occasion the representative of the Turkish Ambassador, the country head Tikka Ejaz Balji, Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab, Tariq Saleem, regional president of Alkhidmat Foundation Rizwan Ahmed also expressed their views. The donors and volunteers who rendered sacrifices in flood relief actives were conferred upon awards.
Presidents of districts, male and female students of universities and colleges, volunteers, and other office-bearers also participated in the convention.
On this occasion, Tikka Ejaz Balji said that Turkish people consider Pakistan their second home and added they were closely observing the laudable well-organized working of Alkhidmat Foundation. He said that Pakistani youth always came forwards as volunteers during every testing time.
