After the protests against IPPs, expensive electricity on January 17, the real work will begin: Hafiz Naeemur Rehman

LAHORE, Jan 14 (SABAH): Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that after the protests against IPPs and expensive electricity on January 17, the real work will begin, and we will bring about a revolution with the power of the people.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman expressed these views while addressing a training workshop organized for individuals from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Mansoorah on Tuesday. He said that all rulers have empowered IPPs (Independent Power Producers) and bombarded the public with electricity bills.

He said it is the government’s responsibility to ensure quality and free education for the public, adding unfortunately, the rulers have deprived the people of even basic amenities.

“Claims of improvement in the economy are a bundle of lies. 10 crore people are living below the poverty line. The public lacks the capacity to buy food items or pay electricity and gas bills. The rulers have been anti-people; the status quo and the outdated system must be changed,” he remarked.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that the law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is extremely bad. He told the rulers that the use of force and military operations are not the solution to the problems. Terrorism cannot be eradicated by displacing people from their settlements and making them homeless within their own country, he added.

Before 2001, there was peace in the tribal areas, and adopting American slavery has only increased the country’s problems, he said.

He said we consider the struggle for the rights of the people as a religious duty. We will bring about a revolution with the power of the people. Governments that come by changing faces and parties cannot bring about real change in the country, he remarked.

He further said that personal and family monopolies have been established within political parties. Nawaz Sharif’s brother is the Prime Minister and his daughter is the Chief Minister, yet he still appears to be disheartened, he noted.

In Jamaat-e-Islami, we make decisions through consultation, and the goal of our movement is the struggle for the establishment of the Islamic System, he said. “Our workers should understand well that Jamaat-e-Islami cannot be compared with other parties. We consider the struggle for the Islamic system necessary until the last breath of life and the final moment of consciousness,” he remarked.

He went on to say that the safest system for minorities is also Islam. “Public committees should be formed at the local level in villages and cities. A large-scale struggle will be initiated by establishing structures at the grassroots level,” he added.
